Propolis Tincture.

Propolis is made up of tree and bud resins which are collected by honey bees. The bees use this resinous gum in a number of ways,

-To seal up small cracks and breaks inside the hive.

- Propolis also has a strong antibacterial and antiviral action, which is used by the bees to embalm the body of any predator (i.e. a mouse) killed within the hive which is to big to be carried outside and would otherwise threaten to infect the hive as it decomposes.

- Some species of bee even coat the inside of the broad cells with Propolis to create a very hygienic nursery for the new eggs.

This Propolis tincture is made by dissolving the sticky Propolis resin in a strong alcohol solution, which makes it much easier to use.

Not only is Propolis anti-bacterial and anti-viral but it also holds anti-inflammatory and cell regeneration properties.

Traditionally Propolis is applied to cuts, grazes, burns, bruises and to treat acne.

Propolis also makes a fantastic gargle for sore throats and mouth ulcers. To make a gargle mix 10 / 20 drops of the tincture with a mug of water (Propolis tincture is very strong and used neat could burn the inside of your month.)

Propolis is also taken because it contains Bioflavonoids, powerful antioxidants that help support the immune system.

In rare cases Propolis can cause allergic reactions, discontinue use if this occurs, there are also some warnings against using propolis if an allergy to any other bee product or sting is present.
