Juniper Berries
Juniper berries take several years to mature so it is not unusual to find green unripe berries on the same tree as purple/ blue ripe berries.
Juniper berries have been used since medieval times to flavour Gin and meats, and in Scotland Whisky
Juniper berries are best known medicinally as a diuretic for treating kidney and bladder problems. Taken raw they are found to stimulate appetite and treat rheumatism and arthritis, when boiled as a tea they relieve flatulence and colic.
